Our Podiatrist Says
Achilles Tendinitis or tendinopathy is pain around the back of the heel during or after exercise and/or when getting moving after rest. Resolving Achilles pain can be challenging. However, you can help to improve things by using the appropriate exercise for your particular issue. Please read our exercise advice carefully.

  • Achilles damage is a common injury in sports people over 30 years-of-age, but also quite common in more sedentary populations over 50 years-of-age
  • It results from either over stressing the Achilles through higher levels of exercise, or because the Achilles tendon is ageing poorly and has become weak
  • The AT insole was designed in Britain by Healthy Step and it is the first insole designed to specifically resolve overstrain and pain generated from the  Achilles tendon
  • The AT insole  It is also very effective in helping recurrent calf strains in runners, so it can be used for any symptom linked to overuse, weakness or fatigue of the calf muscles or Achilles tendon
  • Strengthening the muscles at the back of the calf can really help the Achilles tendon. See the exercises we recommend to strength your calf muscles.

  • Made for Achilles Tendonitis, the X-Line AT is designed to limit Achilles tendon stresses by improving your foot position.
  • Ankle motion control via improved foot stability and a hindfoot lift to raise the heel. This is a proven way to reduce strains on the Achilles tendon at its attachment to the heel bone.
  • A scientifically contoured midfoot saddle designed to reduce the speed and amount of calcaneal plantarflexion in the foot before heel lift. The effect is to make lifting the heel from the ground easier on the Achilles by altering lever arm mechanics.

  • Pain in the Achilles tendon during or after exercise
  • Mid-portion or non-insertional Achilles tendinitis, tendinosis, paratenonitis, and retro calcaneal bursitis
