Product Description

The X-Line Run has been designed to be an effective running shoe companion, helping to reduce foot fatigue by assisting running induced functional changes, rather than restricting normal motions or movements such as pronation.

How soon your foot fatigues depends on many factors and it is not simply because you pronate. Its all about how well your foot can shock absorb impact forces and how efficiently it generates an elastic spring forward. The foot behaves more stiffly than when walking and that requires more work from foot and ankle muscles. These muscles can tire as a result.

The X-Line run is designed to delay fatigue by assisting foot-shape changes brought about by running while also being both light and shock-absorbing.

Wearing X-Line Run insoles in your running shoes and strengthening your feet with our foot therapy ball exercises could help reduce the risk and can delay muscle fatigue.

Running is not like walking because the forces on the body are higher and the locomotion pattern is different. Most shoe insoles are designed for walking but say you can run with them, which you can but without their full benefits being exploited.

Walking involves a single-limb supporting period when one foot is one the ground, which occurs between two double-limb supporting phases when both feet are weight-bearing to some extent.

During walking, when one foot is on the ground your body passes over it. When two feet are on the ground, you are heel striking on one and pushing off your forefoot on the other as you accelerate forward, as shown below:

Running is different and occurs at a faster pace! It consists of a single- limb support phase of one foot on the ground as your body weight passes over it. However, this supporting phase lies between periods of aerial flight, where neither of your feet are in contact with the ground. This changes the biomechanics within your legs completely, as shown below:

The effect of higher locomotion speed of running on forces on the body is to raise them, as force is mass multiplied by acceleration (speed). All this high force occurs when only one foot is one the ground, unlike when the peak forces are on the body during walking. The X-Line run has extra shock- absorbing features built in.

Another big difference is that the angle that the leg positions itself under the body is increased. This is because only one leg gets to support body weight at any time during running. This can make the foot strike the ground more to its outside edge causing the foot to have to rotate inwards very quickly, a motion that can prematurely fatigue ankle and leg muscles. This is especially true for those that heel strike, as shown below:

As a result, the X-Line run has a medial rearfoot-arch wedge within the pack to be fitted by runners that heel strike. It is not attached as standard, because forefoot and midfoot strike runners are less likely to require this addition.

Finally, the biggest factor on the influence of insoles on running is their weight. Many shock-absorbing insoles sold for runners are very heavy. That is going to slow you down and fatigue you much quicker. X-line run insoles are incredibly light.

HealthyStep’s experts have thought of everything, while most insoles sold for running have not had these thought processes built into their design.

Don’t run in insoles made for walking shoes. X-Line run instead.

  • Incredibly light, especially compared to other running insoles
  • Durable and shock-absorbing
  • Optional and adjustable rearfoot and arch support wedge to assist foot placement when running.

Running Insoles with Rearfoot Support
The X-Line Run insole pack contains a uniquely shaped 4 degree rearfoot support and arch wedge that can be attached to the underside of the insole quickly and easily.

When to use the wedge:
The rearfoot wedge is for use by those runners who heel strike.

For nearly all rearfoot strike runners, we recommend fitting the wedges unless you have vey high-arched feet.

If you have high-arched feet use the X-Line run without the wedge unless a healthcare professional has advised you to use them.

However, be aware that on longer runs, those that midfoot or forefoot strike can start to heel strike. If you are developing tired feet and symptoms on longer runs, it is worth trying the wedges to see whether the x-Line run insole can better aid any symptoms you are developing.

Please be aware, you do not need to use all the post. If the post feels too large when you stand on it, carefully prise it back off and just stick 50% on it under the insole and try again. If this feels better, just trim off the excess from the insole.

Runners are most at risk of injury when they are first taking up running or at any other time when they are increasing their distance and/or pace or changing their running shoes.

Regularly strengthening feet by using simple exercises can greatly reduce the risk of injury.

Introducing replacement running shoes for old but perfectly successful one needs careful planning. By initially alternating between the old and new until the new running shoes do not feel odd or particularly different in anyway, is a good way to avoid any issues.
