Product Description
TOETOE® Separators are designed to get back the toes and feet Mother Nature would have you using. Habitual barefoot populations demonstrate feet that are widest across the toes and we know from fossil footprints going back millions years, that this has always been the case. That is, until footwear started to appear!
Having toes that spread out when the foot is loaded is really important to how the foot should function comfortably. Getting toes spreading for a least part of the day not only helps immediate comfort, but can assist in resolving a number of painful forefoot problems.
Perfect For:
- Metatarsalgia (forefoot pains)
- Morton’s neuroma
- Plantar plate injuries
- Bunions
- Hallux valgus
- Tailor’s bunions
- Hammer toes
- Burning forefoot sensations
TOETOE® Separators need to be introduced gradually, because years of wearing toe-cramping shoes makes toes rather reluctant to move. The types of shoes you wear most frequently will influence how difficult it will be to get your toes to start to spread.
To start with, TOETOE® separators will feel very odd, and they may even feel a little uncomfortable for the first few days of using them. Sometimes a little bruising can develop at the base of the toes, especially if you wear them for too long a time too quickly. This bruising soon disappears, but it is best to avoid it by only gradually introducing TOETOE® Separator use.
It is therefore ESSENTIAL that you break in your wearing time of TOETOE® separator socks.
- For the first week, just use them for an hour on an evening before you go to bed. They will most likely feel uncomfortable or odd at first, but the sensation soon disappears.
- If you develop any bruising that is still present at the end of the week, don’t increase your wearing time yet. Wait until you have a week without bruising before moving to two hours.
- If you have had no bruising, or the bruising quickly went away during the first week, you should be ready to try two hours on the second week. The toe separator socks should now feel comfortable to wear. If any bruising develops that hasn’t resolved by the end of this week, stick to two hours for another week. Only when there is no bruising and the socks feel comfortable, increase the wearing time.
- Now try three hours. Bruising is rare after using toe separator socks for two hours without problems but if you do develop some, follow the previous advice before wearing the socks for longer than three hours.
- If you have been using the TOETOE® Separator socks comfortably for three hours without bruising and your feet feel more flexible around the toes, you might want to consider using them to sleep in. This means your toes will get a lovely stretch over 7 to 8 hours every night.
- Don’t worry if you can’t get through the whole night as you’ll still get plenty of benefit just using them intermittently when wearing them on an evening. You’ll be amazed at the difference in toe comfort.
